Brief Biography

Born in Bowling Green, Ohio, Jill Sarver received her BFA in Painting and BA in Spanish from Miami University before obtaining an MFA in Painting from Western Connecticut State University and an MA in Painting and Drawing from Eastern Illinois University. Along with her studio practice, Sarver is deputy director for the Rome Art Program, a New York-based educational nonprofit in Rome, Italy. She has curated independent exhibitions and taught art education throughout the Midwest and New York metro area.

Artist Statement

Using “anonymous” portraiture as a vehicle for expression, this painting is a visual response to U.S.-threatened destruction of Iranian cultural heritage sites.
